Pollen created a new and foundational design system for the Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPC) South Australia to achieve a unified approach to design and user experience across its digital ecosystem. Prior, various contractors, agencies and designers had created a suite of components for digital products, without a consistent approach to design.

The design system was created as a library of components in Figma. We drew on the brand guidelines and designed with scalability in mind so that components and styles can be added in the future. All component designs were responsive and met WCAG 2.1.

In consultation with DPC SA design and development teams, we created a framework and naming system to ensure alignment, scalability and consistency across design and development.

We provided comprehensive documentation on component interaction, responsive behaviour and alternate states, and facilitated a handover to internal teams. The project was a close collaboration with the DPC SA design team to ensure the design system set them up for success in the future.
